CodeX Privacy Policy
CodeX keeps what you do on your phone. It has no account, no advertising and no analytics. Information leaves the phone only when you choose something that needs it: registering your name and email, asking for a written answer, or using voice, location or a web page.
1. Who we are
CodeX is published by bcl.net ("we", "us"). This policy covers the CodeX apps for iPhone and Android and this website. Questions about it can be sent to apphaus@outlook.com.
2. What stays on your phone
Your profession, the place you chose, your questions, the answers, your job history, your yes, close or no feedback, the documents you save for offline use, and the usage and credit figures the app shows are stored on your phone only. We do not receive them and cannot see them.
Looking up code sections happens entirely on the phone, against the code library that ships inside the app.
If you set up an AI provider, its API key is stored encrypted on your phone and is sent only to that provider. We never receive it.
Deleting CodeX removes everything it stored on the phone.
3. Registration (optional)
Before the license agreement, CodeX asks for your first name, last name and email address. You can skip this, and add or change it later in Settings.
If you give them, CodeX keeps them on your phone and, when you accept the agreement, sends us your first name, last name, email address, the agreement's name and version, the date you accepted and whether you use iOS or Android. It is sent through a relay service we run on Cloudflare, which delivers it as an email to our mailbox at apphaus@outlook.com, hosted by Microsoft.
We use it as a record of who accepted the agreement. We do not sell it, rent it or share it for advertising. We keep it for as long as we need that record, and we delete it when you ask.
4. Written answers from an AI provider
When you choose Explain code, CodeX sends your question, the place you chose and the matching code summaries to the AI provider you set up in Settings, under your own account and API key. When a job is marked done, the same provider may be asked to write its one-line summary from the question and the answer.
This goes directly from your phone to that provider. We do not receive it. The provider's own terms and privacy policy apply to what it does with it, so check them before you ask about anything you would not want it to hold.
If you have not set up a provider, nothing is sent to one.
5. Voice, location and web pages
Voice. If you use the microphone, your speech is turned into text by your phone's speech-recognition service (Apple's on iPhone, usually Google's on Android), which may process the audio on its own servers under its own policy. CodeX does not keep the audio.
Location. If you choose "Use my location", CodeX reads your location once and your phone's geocoding service turns it into a city, county and state. CodeX keeps only the place it picked, not the coordinates, and does not track your location.
Product lookups. An install guide and parts lookup is a web search for the brand and model or part number you typed. It opens in a browser view inside the app and goes to the search engine (Google) and then to the website you open.
Links and documents. Publisher viewers, official pages, maps, 811 services and manufacturer sites are websites we do not control, and their own policies apply. A document you save offline is downloaded directly from its address to your phone.
6. What we do not do
CodeX has no advertising, no analytics or tracking software, and no account or sign-in. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their marketing. CodeX does not read your contacts, photos, calendar or files.
7. Your choices
You can use CodeX without giving your name or email, without an AI provider, without the microphone and without location. Voice and location permissions can be turned off at any time in your phone's settings.
You can ask us what registration information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to apphaus@outlook.com from the address you registered. Depending on where you live, the law may give you further rights over your personal information; write to us and we will honor them.
8. Children
CodeX is a tool for adults who work in the building trades. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.
9. This website
This website sets no cookies and has no analytics or advertising. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which, like any web host, processes your IP address and the request in order to deliver the page and protect the service. If you email us, for example to request the beta, we keep your message and address in order to reply.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy has a version number and an effective date. When we change what CodeX collects or sends, we will update this page before the change reaches the app, and we will say so in the app when the change is significant.
