Help with CodeX
Questions, corrections and beta requests go to apphaus@outlook.com. A person reads them.
CodeX is not for emergencies. If there is a danger to life or property, such as a gas leak, contact emergency services or the utility.
How do I get CodeX?
CodeX is in beta and is not in the app stores yet. Email apphaus@outlook.com with your trade and whether you use an iPhone or an Android phone.
Does it cost anything?
Looking up code sections is free and works offline. Explain code uses an AI provider that you set up in Settings with your own account and key, and that provider bills you for what you use. CodeX shows an estimate of what you have spent and what is left.
Which codes does it hold?
2021 International Building Code; 2023 National Electrical Code (NFPA 70); 2021 International Mechanical Code; 2021 International Plumbing Code; 2021 Uniform Plumbing Code. Section text is CodeX's summary with the governing numbers; each section links to the publisher's viewer for the official wording.
The answer does not match what my inspector enforces.
Places adopt different editions and amend them, and CodeX may hold a different edition than the one enforced where you work. The inspector and the adopted code govern. Tell us the place and the section and we will look at the data.
I found a section that is wrong or missing.
Email apphaus@outlook.com with the profession, the section number and what the code says. Corrections to the library go out with the next build.
How do I set up Explain code?
Open Settings, choose an AI provider and paste your API key. The key is stored encrypted on your phone and is sent only to that provider. Until one is set up, a question returns the matching sections.
Why does it ask for my name and email?
So the acceptance of the license agreement is by a named person. It is optional: choose Skip, and add or change it later in Settings. The privacy policy says where it goes.
How do I delete my information?
Deleting the app removes everything it keeps on the phone. To have your registration email deleted from our records, write to apphaus@outlook.com from the address you registered.
My trade is not listed, or its library is missing.
Elevator mechanics can choose their profession, but its library is not in CodeX yet. Tell us which trade and code you need.
